Kenyatta D. Gentry is a 2nd degree black belt Lotus Self defense instructor with over 20 years experience. In 1988 he began Lotus training with his father, Jack J. Gentry, Charlotte North Carolina Lotus Self -Defense black belt, and 1st degree black belt in Hapkido.

Kenyatta participated in many martial arts tournaments throughout his career. He was awarded United States Junior Karate Circuit "competitor of the year" South Eastern division 1996-1998

Kenyatta traveled extensively to seminars throughout the USA, assisting his father Jack J. Gentry.

Kenyatta has taught private self defense classes to security staff at local night clubs, self defense seminars at the Battered Woman's Shelter in Charlotte, and facilitated martial arts summer camps at local Presbyterian Churches in Charlotte. 

Kenyatta co-founded the LOTUS Martial Arts Academy in Charlotte North Carolina,
where he instructs today.
