Kenyatta D. Gentry is a 2nd generation Lotus practitioner. He currently holds a 3rd degree black belt with over 20 years experience.

He began Lotus training in 1988 with his father, Jack J. Gentry, Charlotte North Carolina Professor of Lotus Self -Defense and 1st degree black belt in Hapkido.

Kenyatta has participated in many martial arts tournaments throughout his career. He was awarded United States Junior Karate Circuit "competitor of the year" South Eastern division 1996-1998.

Kenyatta has taught private self defense classes to security staff at local night clubs, self defense seminars at the Battered Woman's Shelter in Charlotte, and facilitated martial arts summer camps at local Presbyterian Churches in Charlotte. 

Kenyatta co-founded the Lotus Martial Arts Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina. He recently founded Dragonfly Martial Arts and Fitness located in Gastonia, North Carolina.
