Ajarn John (Jay) Henderson Jr. is the founder and chief instructor at Legacy Martial Arts & Fitness, located in Huntersville, NC. Ajarn Jay began his training in 1990 under Professor Jack J. Gentry’s Royal Guardians Self Defense. Though “Lotus” is his primary style of martial arts, Ajarn Jay was exposed and cross trained in Hapkido (Ajarn Gentry) and Aikido (Lamard Wingster) Troopers Touch as a teen.

Ajarn Jay went on to pursue his undergraduate degree from Johnson C. Smith University where he was a 2 sport scholar athlete, lettering in both NCAA football and track. It was during his tenure at JCSU that he realized that he would one day become an instructor and open a school to continue the “Lotus” Legacy. In addition to teaching Lotus, Ajarn Jay actively trains in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Balintawak Arnis.
