Tim Hollembaek started his martial arts training at Kingsley AFB in 1964 while serving in the USAF. Before starting his training in Lotus, he continued his study of Judo at the San Jose Judo Academy under Sensei Bill Montero and Sensei Don Montero. After moving back to Bend, Oregon in 1969 he continued to train in Judo intermittently as instructors came and went. He received a green belt in Chito Ryu karate at C.O.C.C. in 1971. He studied Tai Chi Chuan and Judo in Eugene, Oregon between 1973 and 1979 then moved back to Bend again. When Chuck and Lily Quick started the Lotus program in Bend in 1979 Tim was one of the first students to enroll.
Tim was promoted to the rank of black belt in December of 1986. He was awarded his 2nd degree in June of 1992 and 3rd degree in July of 1996. He received the rank of 4th degree from Ajarn Precha Mahachanavong in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand while studying there in July of 2003. Tim was awarded his 5th degree in 2007.
Tim has introduced the use of pressure points to Lotus so that his students are aware of the most effective places to target with Lotus strikes. He continues to study Kyusho Jitsu (the art of striking pressure points) and Small Circle Jujitsu, created by Professor Wally Jay, the concepts of which help to fine tune the techniques of Lotus. Tim has also studied Arnis, Aikido, Gracie Jujitsu and Muay Thai. Tim has written the following articles:
